2021 Toy Drive by Cumberland Valley School District and LCBC Church:

Hi everyone – I hope all of you are doing well.  Last year I partnered with Cumberland Valley school district and LCBC church to do a toy and book donation drive.  It was a good event that helped a lot of people, and we’re back for year two.  Here’s how it works:

1.      Cumberland Valley social workers identify children in the school district that could use some help this holiday season

2.      We collect new and gently used toys and books from local families

3.      We clean them, organize them, and set up a pop-up shop where parents or guardians of these kids can come in and “shop” – picking out five toys and ten books per child for free

4.      We take any remaining toys and books and donate them to area foster care programs, low-income daycares, women’s shelters, and the like

All donations stay local and help local families.  So, if you or someone you know has kids with overflowing toy bins and bookshelves filled with items that never get used anymore, this is a perfect opportunity to recycle and repurpose those things.  Donations can be dropped off at LCBC Church (200 Lambs Gap Road, Mechanicsburg) on the following dates:

Ø  Sunday 11/28 (8am – 8pm)

Ø  Monday 11/29 (8am – 8pm)

Ø  Tuesday 11/30 (8am – 8pm)

There will be a collection bin outside the front entrance to the church.  If you would like to donate but are unable to drop off on those dates, please let me know.  We are collecting new and “gently used” items from toddler to teenager – nothing broken or soiled.  The list of acceptable donations is below.  We’re hoping to help as many local families as we can have a happy holiday season.  Thank you.
