Please Talk to Your Kids About E-Bike Safety

There have been numerous reports of close calls between cars and E-bikes in our neighborhood recently. Unfortunately, it may only be a matter of time before one of these incidents results in someone being seriously injured or even killed.

If your child rides an E-bike or another motorized ride, PLEASE take a few minutes to talk with them about riding safely and following the rules.

One of the biggest concerns with the recent incidents is that some riders appear to be too young to legally operate the motorized ride. According to the attached chart, with the exception of electric scooters and regular bicycles, riders must be 16 years old to operate these types of vehicles.

Parents, please do not allow your child to use a motorized ride if they are under 16. It’s not only the law—it’s also a matter of safety. These vehicles can be fast and difficult for younger children to control, especially around traffic.

We all want our kids to have fun and enjoy the neighborhood, but please help keep them—and everyone else—safe. A quick conversation now could prevent a serious accident later.
